October: dogs, costumes and tribute concerts

Bark in the Park opens the month on Saturday, October 3, at Village Green Park. It is the city's festival for dogs and the people who walk them.

Halloween on the Green is Thursday, October 22, also at Village Green Park. The city bills it as trick-or-treating on the green.

Next door, the Fairfield Community Arts Center at 411 Wessel Drive has three evening shows this month:

  • Saturday, October 3: Mike Masse: Epic Acoustic Classic Rock.
  • Friday, October 9: Always Olivia, a tribute to Olivia Newton-John.
  • Saturday, October 24: Forever Simon & Garfunkel.

Tickets, times and prices are on each show's page in the city calendar.

November 21: the Parade of Lights and the Festival of Trees

The biggest night of Fairfield's year is Saturday, November 21. Here is how the evening runs, from the city's 2026 schedule:

  1. 5 to 6 p.m.: a children's craft inside the Community Arts Center.
  2. 5 to 7 p.m.: the Festival of Trees opens inside the Arts Center, with the Giving Tree tag handout.
  3. 5 to 7 p.m.: food trucks and live reindeer outside in Village Green Park.
  4. 6 p.m.: the Parade of Lights steps off from Waterworks Park, and the Fairfield STARZ dance team performs on the green.
  5. After the parade: the tree lighting and fireworks at Village Green Park.

The city's posted food trucks are Amaizing Grace, Barking Burger Company, Chester's Pizza, Little Trolley Donuts and Quad Que BBQ. Last year's route ran south on Groh Lane, east on River Road and Nilles Road, and south on Wessel Drive to Village Green Park. Check the parade page for the 2026 route before you pick a spot.

The Festival of Trees, November 21 to December 9

The Community Arts Center fills with decorated trees sponsored by local businesses and organizations, and visitors vote for their favorite. Starting December 10, the city donates several of the trees to local families who need one for the holidays.

Any week of the year

  • Jungle Jim's International Market. The Fairfield original, at 5440 Dixie Highway, is a grocery store that doubles as an afternoon out.
  • Harbin Park. One of Fairfield's largest parks, with trails and open space. Fall is a good season for it.
  • Marsh Park. The lake park is heading into a major rebuild. Our development guide covers the plan.
